The Leisure Collective Takes Home Multiple SBIA Awards

Surf & coastal lifestyle group The Leisure Collective has had another epic run at the recent SBIA awards. The company took out 3 key awards in their categories, including Small-Medium Brand of the Year (Creatures of Leisure), Surf Accessory of the Year (Creatures of Leisure), and Sunglass Brand of the Year (OTIS). The wins cement a crazy run in recent years, which has seen both of the Collective’s marquee brands win best product, best brand, or both for the season.

“We couldn’t be more stoked with the awards,” says Nathan Omodei, Director and CEO of The Leisure Collective. “We don’t exist to win things like this, but it’s a huge pat on the back to acknowledge the hard work of our small but dedicated team. To have the support from surf retailers who are the lifeblood of our industry makes it extra sweet as well. It’s amazing to know that they, and their customers, are loving what we do. I’d like to extend a huge thanks to everyone involved, especially our own crew for showing up day after day to create these award-winning products.”

It is the third time running that Creatures of Leisure has taken out surf accessory of the year, including last year for the Superlite Leash and this year for Italo Ferreira’s signature traction pad. Add to that their first ever win for Small-Medium Brand of the Year and the future looks bright for the iconic surf hardware producer, founded back in 1987.

OTIS Eyewear has also proven incredibly popular with voters too, with this year being the 5th time, in the last six years of awards, they’ve received a win for either Best Sunglass Style or Best Sunglass Brand. Their ongoing dedication to high-quality mineral glass lenses and sustainability has driven this popularity with the SBIA.

“We’ve really been hustling to improve what we can where we can, when it comes to doing better for the planet,” says OTIS Brand & Product Manager, Sally Kerr. “A lot of that is reflected in the quality of materials we use including Mineral Glass lenses and biodegradable frame options. To have core surf retailers notice this and get behind it is really special. We’re thrilled.”
